For parents
Where’s Rocko? is a free collection of wholesome games for kids — seek-and-finds, reading, counting, memory, coloring, comics and board games. Here’s exactly what it is, and isn’t.
There are no ads right now. We may add a few later to help keep the games free. If we do, they’ll be kid-appropriate and non-personalized, with no tracking or profiling of children, and we’ll update the privacy policy before any ads appear. Read the privacy policy →
Play a Friend · safety
Backgammon, Checkers and Connect Four can be played with a friend on another device. Only the friend your child invites can join — here’s why nobody can just guess their way in, with the real numbers.
Every game code has 6 spots. Each spot can be any of 31 letters and numbers (we leave out look-alikes like 0/O and 1/I/L so codes are easy to read):
A B C D E F G H J K M N P Q R S T U V W X Y Z 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Each code is picked by a computer’s secure random-number maker, so every one of those codes is equally likely. There’s no pattern to spot.
If you tried one code every second, day and night, it would take about 28 years to try them all. But our server doesn’t let anyone guess that fast:
An invite is only open for 30 minutes, so a guesser gets 30 tries at it at most. That’s a 1 in 29.5 million chance — and they’d also have to beat your friend to it.
Tap to guess a code, just like a guesser would. (This is only a demo — it doesn’t touch any real games.)
| Game code | 6 characters from a 31-symbol alphabet = 316 = 887,503,681 codes, made with a cryptographic random generator (every code equally likely). |
|---|---|
| Guess limit | Every miss (a code that doesn’t exist, or a game that isn’t yours) counts against the connection. 30 misses in an hour blocks code lookups for an hour. Blocked visitors learn nothing about whether a code exists. Your own game keeps working while blocked. |
| Making games | Also limited (150 an hour per connection — enough for a whole classroom), so nobody can flood the system with open games to make guessing easier. |
| Invite expiry | 30 minutes if nobody joins. After a friend joins: deleted after 24 hours with no moves. |
| Seat keys | 128-bit random tokens (2128 ≈ 3.4 × 1038), kept only in each player’s browser. The server checks every move. |
| What we store | The game board and the two pup names, until the game expires. Rate limits use a one-way hash of the connection address, never the address itself, and are deleted within about two hours. |
| Honest limits | Anyone you send the link to can join until the first friend does — so share it only with the friend you mean. A shared network (like a school) shares one guess limit. Even if someone did get in, all they could do is play a board game with a pup name. |
